Warwick, RI 02886
Taught by Melissa Robb
Cost: $5

We will be using paint and Tyvek to sew a notebook!
It shouldn’t be too messy at all, but kids shouldn’t wear a ball gown without bringing an apron!

Paint & brushes, notebooks, and tyvek provided.

What to bring:

Sewing Machine - can be shared if siblings or friends want to arrange that. If you can't bring a sewing machine, we will have a few with me that a few kids can use

Basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machines - threading a needle, sewing a straight line

Extension cord with 3 prong adapter

Thread - I suggest bringing a few colors, so you have options. Each color should already have a bobbin made so we don’t have to spend time making bobbins. One of the colors could be already set up in the machine to make things move a little faster. Just choose the one you think they will most likely be using to sew together a book. We can switch it out if they want but at least one will be ready to go

Quest is an educational incentive program that uses badges and awards to encourage kids of all ages to take their education to the next level by delving deeper into subjects they are already interested in and exploring new ideas and experiences. Written by homeschoolers, this program seeks to show kids that everything is fun and educational!

This mini-session we will be working on earning the Pets Badge. (This topic won the students-choice from session 1!) We will learn what makes a pet different than other animals and what animals would make good pets. They will learn the anatomy of their favorite pet and then make an arts & crafts project for a pet (toy, cage decoration, collar, etc). They will be encouraged to read a book at home on a pet they are interested in learning more about.

*Note - students are not required to actually have a pet of their own, but can earn this badge on a pet they would be interested in learning more about.

Badges (pins) will be awarded on the last class of this mini-session.
