An evening of science learning with future elementary teachers!
Recommended for ages 6-11

Bridgewater State University has put together science lessons that will help children understand more about how scientists create explanations about science in the world around us.
Session options include:

exploring how plants and insects defend themselves
learning how force makes things go
testing objects for properties of solids
investigating the connection between magnets and materials

Plus, an optional session for parents to learn about the “science and engineering practices,” which are the ways in which scientists and engineers enact inquiry and the design process to investigate the natural and designed world.

Schedule:
5:00pm Check In
5:10-6:00pm Session 1 for children + Parent Session
6:00-6:20pm Pizza, Salad, and Dessert
6:25-7:15pm Session 2 for children

This event is free and includes dinner for the students as well as their parents /chaperones. Please only register if can commit to attending.

Stephen Hopkins House

ENRICHri friend Damien Kilbride will provide American Sign Language instruction as we visit Stephen Hopkins house. Damien is Deaf and communicates exclusively with ASL. We will have 30 minutes of "learn on location" ASL instruction ; feel free to stay and explore the house afterwards.

This is Providence’s oldest house and first historic preservation success story, twice visited by George Washington. It was the home from 1743 to 1785 of merchant, politician and Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Stephen Hopkins. Hopkins, his wife Sarah and 4 of their 7 children, second wife Anne, and her 3 children, and the slaves, Fibbo, St. Jago, Prince, Toney, Adam and Priamus, lived and worked here, through turbulent times in Rhode Island history. Learn about the white and black lives led in these 8 small rooms, now furnished with period antiques & family heirlooms.

Cost: $4 per person.

Please submit hanging items matted or framed. Neither need to be expensive, simply using a larger piece of paper as a frame is fine.
Table items must be able to sit flat on table and not roll around.
ALL ART SHOULD BE MARKED on back or bottom with artist's full name and age. You will put uniform tags with first name and age only when you bring your items to the library.
Having full name on back helps us get artwork back to it's rightful owner at the end of the art show.

All members are allowed to bring up to 4 pieces of art.

Cost is free. And Art will be on display all through April.
