Recommended for ages 6 to teens

Students will learn the basics of estuarine ecology and how to use a seine net to sample Narragansett Bay’s rich abundance of life. We’ll identify and discuss each species we catch. Students will get wet, so extra water shoes are a must, and a change of clothes is recommended.

Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to eat before the program, and consider staying for the Discovery Hike at Norman Bird Sanctuary earlier in the day.

$10 per child
1 adult free per family; additional adults $5

Take part in a hands-on discovery of Norman Bird Sanctuary's trails and habitats. An educator will lead interpretive activities along the way. Animal signs, seasonal changes in plants, and other stories of the landscape will be highlighted. You never know what we might encounter along the way!

Feel free to bring a picnic lunch! And consider staying for a second program, Seining the Sakonnet , which starts at 12:15 p.m.

Open enrollment in the Tuesday programming a The Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket will be available Wednesday, August 23 - Monday, September 4.
Come see the facility we'll be using, which includes include classrooms, an art room and a PC lab for parent led classes, plus a gym with climbing wall, pool, foosball and pool table, playground and playing fields.
