Support Programs - Public Website View
Warwick Public Library
600 Sandy Lane Warwick, RI
Presented by Melissa Robb
Intended Audience: Adults and Teens The Congressional Award is the U.S. Congress' award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive with no academic requirements. The program is open to all 14- to 23-year-olds regardless of mental or physical challenges. Participants earn Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas; Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. http://congressionalaward.org/ Earning the award is a fun and interesting way to get more involved in something you already enjoy or something you'd like to try for the first time. You move at your own pace. This is not an award for past accomplishments. You are rewarded for achieving your own challenging goals. Regardless of your situation, you can earn the Congressional Award. There are no academic achievement requirements. The Congressional Award Foundation teaches participants to set and achieve personally challenging goals that build character, and foster community service, personal development, and citizenship. Melissa’s son, Ian, has been awarded the Bronze and Silver Certificates and is working to complete his Gold Medal requirements by April 2019. |
