Park near the Plainfield Pike end of the parking lot, the shops in that section are all empty so there's lots of space.

Who: all ages!

What:
What a great mix of "Yay, that's a great field trip!"

You know how some homeschool kids drool over the magic of THE SCHOOL BUS? It drives by, they think the kids are having a party on board, they want to know what it's like! Well, here's your chance! We will be taking a school bus to the landfill!

We will meet in the Walmart parking lot. Bus is LEAVING at 11:00 on the dot, don't be late! We will journey on the magical bus to the RIRRC (Rhode Island Resource Recovery Center).
At RIRRC we will tour the facility (some of the tour is in their building, some is on the bus) and then the bus will return us to the Walmart parking lot.

State-of-the art Materials Recycling Facility—see how we use technology and people-power to sort and sell recyclables for the benefit of our economy, our environment, and each other.
Small Vehicle Area for harder-to-recycle materials—open to all Rhode Islanders who want to reduce the amount of trash they send to RI’s Central Landfill.
Eco-Depot building—home to RI’s free household hazardous waste collection program for the responsible disposal of materials that are toxic, corrosive, flammable, combustible, etc.
Leaf and yard debris composting operation—see how we produce rich compost through a managed, biological process.
Central Landfill—expertly designed, engineered, and operated to dispose of our trash, while remaining environmentally complaint. At current disposal rates, our state’s landfill will reach capacity in 2038.
