Field Trips
Coggshell Farm Museum
1 Colt Drive Bristol, RI
Damien, our beloved ASL teacher, will teach us the applicable sign language as we tour Coggshall Farm.
During the tour, guests are invited to get hands-on in the farmhouse, the workyard, the animals, and the garden. Stations may consist of activities like: sawing in the work yard, weeding or maybe harvesting in the garden, doing some prep work in the kitchen, and some wool carding after talking about the sheep. All of these hands-on activities will take a new meaning when they can use their hands to communicate in American Sign Language, which will consist of basic vocabulary, phrases, and cultural etiquette (eye contact, hand waving) that are relevant to life for Federalist Era tenant farmers in the late 1700s. $11 per person age 4-adult Free for 3 and younger Register by April 21. |
