ASL Learn on Location: Roger Williams Zoo When: Friday, September 30, 2016 10:00 - 12:00 Where: Roger Willams Park Zoo Meet at the Zebra area, which is right inside the entrance. Who: all ages are welcome! What: ASL Learn on Location: Zoo Animals! We continue our On Location Series! Damien Kilbride will be the star attraction on location as he teaches us signs for animals throughout the zoo. Lions, Tigers, Bears, Oh MY! Damien has taught ASL at ENRICHri and he made ENRICHri International Fair extra special this year as we learned signs for countries and related words and on location at the grocery store! Instructor: Damien Kilbride, deaf and native signer who graduated from a deaf university (Gallaudet), is fluent in ASL and has a working knowledge in several foreign sign languages, including International Sign Language. Damien teaches sign language and provides enrichment activities at several early learning center locations and youth camp programs across Rhode Island. Cost: $9 per family This is the cost of the lessons with Damien. How you get INTO the zoo is up to you. For those without zoo memberships, remember that many libraries have zoo passes! |

Storrs Adventure Park When: Friday, September 30, 2016 10am - 1pm Where: Adventure Park at Discovery Museum 2007 Storrs Ave Storrs, Connecticut Who: ages 7 and up are welcome to climb, non-climbers are welcome to hang out to watch or in the picnic area at no cost What: Looking For the Best Connecticut High Ropes Course & Zipline Experience? With 11 Trails, 21 zip lines, 6 difficulty levels, and almost 161 challenge bridges, The Adventure Forest is the largest forest climbing park New England. At the heart of the park is the main platform. Think of it like the top of a ski mountain. There is a ladder leading to the top of the platform. Once on the main platform, there are 11 separate trails heading off and up into the tree tops. Each is color coded indicating the difficulty of the trail. Like a ski mountain, each climber chooses their own level of challenge. Depending on the climber and the trails chosen, climbers can generally complete two to four trails during a three hour climbing session. Wear well fitting clothing that does not allow anything to hang loose or get tangled in cables and rope. Long hair and jewelry should not be left loose. Sneakers or hiking shoes are recommended.
