Prudence Island Ferry

Narragansett Bay Research Reserve: Prudence Island Friday, June 2nd
Spend the day at Prudence Island with a Narragansett Bay National Estuairne Research Reserve Program naturalists!! The naturalists will meet us at the ferry, take us to their nature center, then take us to different spots on the island like trails, the shoreline, Chaseway Beach and Nag Salt Marsh. Explore Prudence Island with educators from the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve! We’ll spend the morning at the shoreline using different types of nets to catch a variety of fish, crabs and shrimp that call the estuary home. Search the shoreline for horseshoe crabs and learn about these amazing living fossils. After lunch, we’ll explore a salt marsh and the amazing plants and animals that live there, and check in on our resident osprey families. Be sure to pack a lunch, drinks and snacks for the day. Ferry departure times are at 9:45am from Bristol and 4:15pm from Prudence; travel time is 30 minutes. Please arrive 30 minutes early (at 9:15) to Bristol to ensure time to park, walk to the ferry landing and purchase tickets. Online reservations are available or you can buy tickets at arrival. If you are bringing your own car, get tickets in advance, ferry spots for cars sell out. https://prudencebayislandstransport.com/ **This program is free, BUT you are responsible for your own transportation!!** Anticipated ferry fees: $10.80 round trip per adult $3.80 round trip per child Infant through age 4 is free. Some of seats are available on the NBNERR passenger van. Otherwise, you will need to bring your own car. Passenger vehicle is $62.00 round trip. That includes the driver, but not any passengers. We encourage families to carpool and split cost. |
