Digital DSLR Photography 101

Who: ages 12 - 18

What:
In this class, students will learn how to use a digital camera in manual exposure mode. Learning how to use a camera in manual mode is the first step in creating the images that you envision as an artist. We will cover all of the basics of how shutter speed, aperture, and ISO work together to create an exposure. Each week students will progress through the exposure triangle, complete weekly assignments, receive feedback on their images, and learn how to see as an artist. At the end of the class, students will have a beautiful portfolio of the images that they made. The instructor for this class will be photographer, Cheryl Johnston.

REQUIREMENTS:
Students will need to provide their own DSLR camera and preferably have access to a computer with basic photo editing capabilities.
Students will need to have access to Adobe Lightroom. They can install the 30 day trial in time for the first class.
Students will need to print some of their photos either at home or at a place like CVS in order to share for critiques.

Tween Time
When: Tuesday, March 15th 12:00 - 1:00
Who: Ages 9-12
What: Games/activities encouraging the tweens to have fun and interact! Parent led by Shayl and Tyna
Cost: free!

Who: aimed at teens (12 yr olds welcome)

What: Hearts: Geometry and Art Combine

C Squared infuses fun string art with geometric concepts. In this hands on workshop, students develop skills constructing a perfect heart. Participants utilize mathematical tools to bisect and construct equidistant points about geometric shapes. The final result, is stunning work of art.

Bio: Danielle Jones, C Squared owner, cultivates creativity and mathematics to stimulate minds and smiles. Her unique background in multi sensory math, special education and behavioral therapy will take form as a Mentoring in Mathematics degree from Western Connecticut State University this May.

Cost: $30 per student
