This is a 6 week hands-on experience with scientific tools and specimens that will take place in the fully equipped River Classroom center located on the third floor of the Blackstone Valley building right next to the beautiful Blackstone River.
Parents, you have the option to drop off your child or stay. Please ensure your child can handle a drop off situation and maintain a positive learning environment for the other participants if you choose to do so. 
The students will get hands-on experience with scientific tools and specimens, as well as a better understanding of our changing climate and how we measure it.  

Topics:

Discuss forest ecology and the patterns of wildlife and forest structure
How foresters manage forests for endangered species, forest health, and production
How to measure a tree
What does a forester do
How forests have changed since the Industrial Revolution
Students could learn how to measure a tree using real forestry tools. Through this, they could learn how to sample an area and decide what kind of management approach should be taken, how to set up a sample, how to eliminate bias in a sample, how many board feet are in the plot.

15 Minute Field Trips will lead this exciting outdoor event!
Animal Detectives - Learn to track animals by their nests and other homes, tracks, scat, and food remains. Get a track guide to take home. (MEET the teacher from 15-minute Field Trips at WOONASQUATUCKET GREENWAY. USE 20 GOLDSMITH ST. JOHNSTON TO FIND PARKING AREA.)
This is NOT a drop off event
This scheduled for Feb 10 but in case of cancelation due to weather it will be held on March 3rd or 10th. Please have all those dates available as there will not be refunds due to weather-related date changes.

Ages 3 and under free with paid sibling.  If your only kiddo is 3 or under they need a paid ticket.
