The salt pond and cobble beach at Casey Farm offer exciting settings to explore the diversity of life along Rhode Island’s greatest natural treasure: Narragansett Bay. Students learn about fresh and saltwater wetlands and then discover the wide variety of organisms that live in the salt marsh, salt pond, and cobble beach. The Jamestown Bridge provides a backdrop to a discussion of human influences on the bay.
Catch and identify organisms in seine nets.
Learn about tides and their impact on the shoresline.
Study the geology of Casey Point, identifying different types of rocks.
Test the pH and salinity of the bay's water and learn why these factors are important in determining the health of the bay and its inhabitants.

There is no age requirement, but the program is designed for grades 4-8. Register children only. Chidren under age 3 may tag along for free.
