ENRICHri International Fair

Common Fence Point Community Center in Portsmouth
The international fair is a celebration of countries around the world. Participants will choose a country and do all their own research and present it on a tri-fold board. We will have music, food, and passports to collect stamps from all the countries.
This an annoual tradition for ENRICHri - our 10th International Fair!
Presentations will be displayed inside.

All ages are welcome to participate.
***After registering, go to the ENRICHri Member Facebook group and search the tag #internationalfair2022 to see which countries have already been claimed then comment your child’s first name and the country they select. There will be no duplicates. If you aren't on Facebook, please email Melinda.p.price@icloud.com to check which countries are taken and claim your child’s choice.
Cost:
- $6 to participate and represent a country.
- Siblings may register separately for $6 each or choose to work together and participate by representing a single country (just register one child)
- Non-participants are welcome to come see all the presentations!
Participation Expectations:
- You will need to display a tri-fold board to share information about your country.
- A flag of your country to be displayed and used in the parade of nations (can be a regular piece of paper).
- A nut-free cultural food dish to share with others. Please also bring serving utensils and an index card with a list of ingredients to display with your dis
- Stickers (½ a mailing label works great) or a stamp of your country’s flag, symbol, or name so that visitors to your country’s presentation can “stamp” their passports.
- Bring your own water bottles/drinks.
Provided for you:
- A portion of a table to present your project
- A power outlet if needed (please let us know as they are limited) and
- A blank passport
- Paper products and utensils for shared food.
Ideas for your presentation:
- Locate your country on a map - include capital city
- Bring in a country flag. It can be home-made or purchased. Provide information about the country flag - its colors or symbols and their meanings.
- Clothing- Feel free to dress in traditional costume or clothing from your chosen country! An alternative is to have pictures of traditional attire or dolls.
- Print out the recipe of the dish you brought and make copies to hand out to others.
- Describe the culture and traditions for your country. What and how do they celebrate? List some festivals and major holidays.
- Show pictures or bring in actual currency from your country.
- Discuss travel and tourism in your country. Why would someone choose to visit there? What are some landmarks or destinations that shouldn't be missed? How can you get there from where you live?
- Which languages are spoken in this country? Are there more than one? Include some common phrases in each language.
- Which sports and or leisure activities are popular in your country?
- Famous people that came from or live in this country. What are they known for?
- Discuss the economy and sources of income typical in this country. What are the main industries?
- What is the climate in your country? Do they have 4 seasons like us? Show an annual weather chart
- Props- musical instruments, crafts, books, maps, artwork or other items of interest
- Music- bring in a sample of cultural music and play it quietly for those visiting your table to hear
- Bring in something for others to take with them: eg. a quiz about the facts you have presented, a recipe to try at home, a word search or crossword puzzle relevant to your country, small stickers, toys, souvenirs, etc.
- The above are only guidelines and ideas. Please feel free to make it your own and have fun!
