Tomaquag Museum Tour + Storyteller Workshop

The Tomaquag Museum showcases the history and culture of the natives peoples who have lived and currently reside in southeastern New England including the Narragansett, Niantic, Pokanoket, Wompanoag and Nipmuck. Exhibits include traditional crafts, historical archives dating back to the 1880s, culture and information important indigenous figures including Princess Red Wing and Ellison "Tarzan" Brown Sr.. The museum's grounds include a wetu (traditional domed hut) and a traditional Three Sisters garden. There is also a forest and an outdoor Friendship Circle.
We will experienced a guided program through the museum connecting youth to Indigenous culture, history, and the arts. Join in a welcome social dance led by the museum cultural educator followed by a scavenger hunt through the museum exhibits. The group then reconvenes for an traditional storytelling presentation on the oral history of the Narragansett People.

If you forget to bring a mask, there will be mask available here at the museum."
