Diavolo | Architecture in Motion is a Los Angeles based dance company that was founded in 1992 by Jacques Heim. Diavolo uses meticulously designed structures to explore the relationship between the human body and its surrounding architectural environment. The fearless, athletic daredevils of Los Angeles based Diavolo use dance, acrobatics, and gymastics to push the edge of performance.
They will be performing two pieces; Journey and Trajectoire. Journey portrays the moon landing which is appropriate as our country commemorates the 51st anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Trajectoire displays great acrobatic feats on what looks like the deck of a ship. Interestingly, one reviewer referred to it as a Spanish galleon. This also easily ties to our state as a sea community that participated in ship building starting in the early days of when we were a colony. Both of these pieces easily tie into STEAM teaching. There will be an accompanying Teacher Resource Guide available.
