Quest is an educational incentive program that uses badges and awards to encourage kids of all ages to take their education to the next level. Written by homeschoolers, this program seeks to show kids that everything is fun and educational!

For this 3 week session, we will be earning the Rocks & Minerals Badge. Students will learn about the different types of rocks and how each are formed. We will talk about the layers of the Earth and which rocks and minerals are found there. They will understand the difference between a rock and a mineral and be able to identify those in nature. Some parts of the class will be held outdoors (weather permitting) and the kids will be collecting and sorting rocks that they find. They will need a container for their own rock and mineral collection. During the last class we will learn about some famous rocks in history (Plymouth Rock, Stonehenge, Mt Rushmore, etc).

Ages 6 and up. The class learning is geared towards ages 6-9, but older kids are welcome to join as well. Students must be able to sit and listen, participate in group activities, and follow directions.
