Enjoy a tour of Rough Point, the house museum of Doris Duke, who was a billionaire and the founder of the Newport Restoration Society. It displays the Duke family’s extensive collections of European fine and decorative arts, which were assembled over seven decades and include works by Gainsborough, van Dyck, Reynolds, Bol and Renoir. Tapestries, textiles and oriental porcelain complement furniture and decorative arts from England and continental Europe. The house is shown as Ms. Duke lived in it. She died in 1993, and in her will turned the home into a public museum.
The tour also includes the 2019 special exhibition, “Beyond Fortune: The Life and Legacy of Doris Duke”.
Cost: $5 per person (adults and children)
