Fort Wetherill Tour
Thursday, August 3, 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Jamestown RI

The ranger will meet you all by the picnic tables right at the Fort's parking lot.
Looks like the weather should be good!

A park ranger will bring us on a tour of Fort Wetherill. Fort Wetherill is a former coast artillery fort that occupies the southern portion of the eastern tip of Conanicut Island. The fort sits atop high granite cliffs, overlooking the entrance to Narragansett Bay. The grounds have a lot of open areas that are great for picnicing and playing. The fort has extensive and graphic grafitti. We will learn the history of the fort, explore some of the depths, and hear about the nature and wildlife in this unique park. If you have small children with you, you may want to skip the parts when the group goes into the tunnels and meet up with the group afterwards. Please bring flashlights and wear closed-toed shoes. Strollers won't work out but carrying/wearing a child is fine.
