Boys & Girls Club of Newport: Session 2 (Four week session)

We offer three registration options.  You can register for just Mondays, just Wednesdays, or both days.  We also offer a discount for large families registering three or more children (Family Pricing).

MONDAYS*

Per Student Fee:  $40 or

Family Pricing Fee: $106

Dates:  3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/24

Hours: 10:00am – 2:00pm

 

Mondays are our cooperative days.  Below is a list of our tentative offerings taught by current program parents. We will not be able to run all these classes. Our goal is to provide students with a wide variety of classes to select from.  Classes chosen to run will be based upon popularity and teacher availability. Students should make known their top choices as soon as practicable.

 

Ages 9+

  1. Photography - Students explore what makes a 'good' photo. Digital camera or phone required for class.

  2. Junk Box Wars – Students receive a box of “junk” to complete a challenge.

  3. Musical Jam Session – Bring your instrument and jam with friends.

  4. Writing -  learn the elements of good writing and practice a different type of writing each week.

  5. Science (TBD)

  6. Cupcake Decorating

  7. Free at Last Discussion Class – Discussion class on Dr. King’s I had a Dream speech.  Using curriculum from Michael Clay Thompson.  

  8. Art & Craft Lab – Wool felting, stick craft, origami, and bookmaking.

  9. Playing with Light – Shadows, mirrors & rainbows.

 

Under 9

  1. Art & Craft Lab - Wool felting, stick craft, origami, and bookmaking.

  2. Playing with Light - Shadows, mirrors & rainbows.

  3. Lego Challenge

  4. Wild About Weather – Facts, experiments & crafts

  5. Story time – Story and craft

  6. Funny Bones - Human Body for littles

  7. Musical Jam Session – Bring your instrument and jam with friends

  8. Cupcake Decorating

 

Some classes may require a materials supply fee.


 

WEDNESDAYS*

Per Student Fee:  $40 or

Family Pricing Fee: $106

Dates: 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/26

Hours: 10:00am – 2:00pm

 

Boys & Girls Staff Led Classes
10:00 – 10:15     Arrival

10:15 – 11:15      Computers - Learn Scratch with Gianni

11:15 – 12:15    Gym Class – Playing a variety of fun, active games

12:15 – 1:00      Lunch / Playground time

1:00 – 2:00           Open swim

*Boys & Girls Club membership is required for participation.  The club is offering membership to us at a discounted rate of $20/student.  They also offer a sizable credit to military families!
