Do you know a high school junior looking for an incredible summer opportunity?

Electric Boat’s Summer High School Intern Program (SHIP) run in in Groton, CT and Quonset Point, RI.

SHIP is an eight-week, paid summer internship where local students ages 16+ work alongside experienced Electric Boat mentors in areas like welding, machining, electrical, design and more. It’s a hands-on way for students to explore careers in shipbuilding while contributing to meaningful work.
Additionally, EB hires seniors right out of high school (700 in 2026!) regardless of their prior knowledge. They provide training to all employees whether they have experience in the trades through classes, practical hands-on work or have no prior skills. So this could be a great way for high school students to learn about post-grad employment options as well!

A member of the SHIP team will explain the program and answer any questions!

Around January/February 2027 they open up the applications for current Juniors who are interested in working at Electric Boat over the summer before their Senior year. This paid internship lasts 8 weeks and the selected students are required to be available for the entirety of the 8 weeks and it could ultimately result in an offer of Co-Op during their Senior year. The program exists at both our Groton, CT and Quonset Point, RI locations. It is highly competitive as we have over 300 students that apply to the 100 positions available between both sites.

Our trades, in general, are welding, carpentry, electrical, machining, shipfitting, pipefitting, sheetmetal, and design (Groton only).

This info session is open to anyone, ENRICHri members as well as non-members.
Register to attend.
