Minecraft Build: Immerse Yourself in the Culture!

When: Tuesday, May 24th 12:00 - 2:00

Who: all ages!!

Where: ENRICHri Community Center
We PLAN to hold this outdoors, but if weather makes it necessary we will move inside.

What: (thanks to Amy and Adam for leading this event!)

Culture: Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social, habits, music and arts.

This event is open to Minecraft fans of all ages. This is not a drop-off event; parents are expected to stay and to participate.

There are two Minecraft-tastic elements to our awesome build event:

1. A Minecraft castle, to be built on-site, with the help of all participants
and
2. Minecraft elements, to be built at home and brought to the site.

Castle build guidelines:
Every child is required to bring a minimum of six, silver-painted boxes, each approximately 16 x 12 x 12 (sometimes labeled “small”). These boxes will be used to construct our castle, which will be the centerpiece of our Minecraft village. The more boxes we have, the bigger the castle.

Don’t worry over-much about the boxes. Silver is our ideal, but gray is fine; boxes can be bigger or smaller than 16 x 12 x 12, too.

When we build the castle, we expect adults to help the children to cooperate.

Individual build guidelines:
Bring a Minecraft element you made at home to complete our Minecraft village. A Creeper, a Mooshroom, a chicken, a fence, a garden (wheat! carrots! beats! pumpkins!), Redstone, emerald, ore (these are easy: paint a box or glue construction paper to a box to indicate what Minecraft “element” you’ve made), or foam or cardboard swords or pickaxes, etcetera. Feel free to come in costume, if you like.  Keep it simple, stress-free, and fun!

Any painting, gluing, cutting, drawing, mining, etcetera required for the individual build must be completed at home before the event. However, if for the purpose of transporting your build, it needs to travel in pieces, you may reassemble your build on site. We will have green, brown, and silver duct tape on site, but in limited supply (bring what you need to re-assemble, please).

Mining on an empty stomach is not necessary:
Feel free to bring a Minecraft related snack to share with the group—no nuts, please. See link for ideas: https://www.pinterest.com/explore/minecraft-food/

We look forward to seeing you!

Cost: $9 per family (PLEASE be sure to post in the names of all those attending as space is limited and we need an accurate headcount)
